ANNA ARKUSHYNA was born 1989 in Lutsk, Ukraine. She completed degrees at the Kyiv Special Music College in 2009 (Music Theory department, Composition-class of prof. Alla Zahaykevych) and the National Music Academy of Ukraine in 2014 (Composition-class of prof. Yevhen Stankovych).
In 2017, she graduated from the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz (Composition-class of prof. Beat Furrer). From 2015 to 2019, Anna was a student at the IEM Graz, class of prof. Marko Ciciliani and prof. Daniel Mayer. Since 2020, she has been a student in the composition-class of prof. Franck Bedrossian at the University of Music and Performing Arts Graz.
Anna has participated in composition workshops with P. Billone, A. Posadas, C. Iannotta, G. Stäbler, S. Newski, M. Andre, R. Cendo, A. V. Gorne, and J. Reis. She also took lessons with D. Kourliandski, C. Bauckholt, and S. Gervasoni.
She was a finalist of the composer's competition “Step to the Left-4” (2011), third-prize-winner of the “Pre-art composers competition” in (2017). Anna was also a finalist of the “Ö1-Talentebörse Kompositionspreis" (2020, 2022) in Austria. In 2021 she was awarded the "Musikförderungspreis der Stadt Graz".
In 2022 she received a Start Stipendium für Musik und darstellende Kunst 2022 from Bundesministerium für Kunst, Kultur, öffentlichen Dienst und Sport.
Her music is widely performed during many festivals and projects in Ukraine, Poland, Germany, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Croatia, Chile, Mexico, Japan, Slovakia, and Switzerland by ensembles such as Musikfabrik, Ensemble Intercontemporain, Ensemble Modern, Airborne Extended, Cantando Admont, Quatuor Béla, Nostri Temporis, Ensemble Spectrum, Kwartludium, Pre-Art-Solisten, MozArt Sinfonietta Salzburg and many others.
Currently Anna is part of the Cursus Program on Composition and Computer Music 2022/2023 at IRCAM, Paris.
