HANNA HAVRYLETS was born in 1958 in western Ukraine. In 1982 she was graduated from the Lysenko Lviv State Conservatory and completed her post graduate studies at the P.I. Tchaikovsky Kyiv State Conservatory in 1984. Since 1985 she has been a member of the Composers’ Union of Ukraine, and has been a professor at the Tchaikovsky National Music Academy of Ukraine since 1992.
Havrylets is active in various musical genres, authoring symphonic, chamber and instrumental music, as well as choral works. She is the winner of the Ivanna and Marian Kots International Competition for Composers (1995), the Shevchenko National Prize of Ukraine (1999), as well as the "Spiritual Psalms of the Third Millennium" Competition, the choral festival “The Gold-Domed Kyiv” (2001), the Vedelart prize "Kyiv" (2005), Chevalier of the Order of Princess Olga (2008) and was awarded with the St. Volodymyr Order (2005). Compositions by Havrylets have appeared at concerts and festivals in Ukraine, Poland, Russia, USA, Canada, Switzerland, France, Netherlands, Slovakia, Armenia, Lithuania and other countries, and Havrylets’ music was featured as part of the celebrations of the visit of His Excellency Pope John Paul II to Ukraine (2003). Her music is often heard on radio and television programs. In 2017 she was elected a corresponding member of the National Academy of Arts of Ukraine.
