KATYA SUHLOBINA is a Ukrainian violinist and composer known for blending modernity, minimalism and folklore with baroque counterpoint. Born and educated in Kyiv (the National Academy of Music of Ukraine), she then studied violin (Prof. Ariadne Daskalakis) and composition (Prof. Wolfram Breuer) at the Cologne University of Music and Dance. Later, she deepened her knowledge of early music in the baroque violin class (Prof. Midori Seiler) at the Folkwang Universität in Essen.

Katya Suhlobina has performed as a soloist with renowned orchestras in Ukraine, including the National Symphony Orchestra of Ukraine and Kyiv Camerata. Nowadays, she performs widely across Europe with ensembles such as “The Chambers - Die Virtuosen aus Köln”, “Unfeed Format”, and the Cologne Baroque Ensemble, and in 2024 she toured in China as concertmaster of the Bremen Baroque Orchestra.

Among her stage works are opera-performances Creature Freedom as Utopia (Berlin, 2022) and Creature Freedom as Utopia – Ark (Cologne, 2023), both created for mixed-ability ensembles and inspired by utopian concepts of existence. Actively engaged in social themes, Suhlobina is currently pursuing a PhD degree in cultural studies, her thesis exploring the role of artists under totalitarian regimes.

Her discography includes Chiaconnas and Passacaglias with the Cologne Baroque Ensemble, (2020), the collection of her chamber music compositions Eclectic Mosaic (2021), and All-in-One with The Chambers (2024).
