Oksana Nesterenko is a PhD candidate in Music History and Theory at Stony Brook University.  Her dissertation, “A Forbidden Fruit? Religion, Spirituality and Music in the USSR before its Fall,” was supported by the Association of Slavic, East European and Eurasian Studies (ASEEES), the American Musicological Society, and the Paul Sacher Foundation. Oksana has presented her work at many conferences, including the annual AMS conference, the annual ASEEES congress, and the 20th Congress of the IMS and her research is published in Perspectives of New Music. She is a co-founder of ExtendedTechniques.com, a blog about contemporary music in New York.
