OLEH BEZBORODKO is a Ukrainian pianist and composer. His works have been performed throughout the world: from the United States to China. After studying piano and composition in Ukraine and Switzerland he obtained a Ph.D. degree from the Ukrainian National Academy of Music and now holds a post of full-time professor (piano) at that institution. Performances of his music include those by ensemble “musikFabrik”, pianists Stephen Gutman, Roglit Ishay, Timothy Hoft, violinists Dima Tkachenko, Orest Smovzh and Loussine Azizian, mandolinist Olena Olenchyk. Both as pianist and composer, Mr. Bezborodko has cooperated with all the major Ukrainian orchestras and such renowned conductors as Roman Kofman, Kirill Karabits, Bogodar Kotorovych and Volodymyr Sirenko. Prizewinner of national and international piano competitions and scholarships, Mr. Bezborodko is in high demand as an interpreter of contemporary music and as a chamber musician. He has performed and premiered piano and chamber works by almost all major contemporary Ukrainian composers (Almashi, Bibik, Hodzyatsky, Ishchenko, Karabyts, Polyova, Silvestrov, Stankovych, Shchetynsky and many others). In 2020, Naxos Records released the premiere recording of the Piano Concertino by Valentin Sylvestrov performed by Oleh Bezborodko with the Lithuanian National Orchestra conducted by Christopher Lyndon-Gee. 

In 2008 the Ukrainian Ministry of Culture awarded Bezborodko the Levko Revutsky Music Prize. In 2017 he obtained the Mykola Lysenko Composition Award. Commissions include those from Goethe-Institut and Ernst fon Siemens Musikstiffung, Ukrainian National Academic Concert Band, Musica Mundi Frankfurt, and Tatyana Masurenko. Mr. Bezborodko’s works have been selected through calls for scores by the Florida State University New Music Festival and by the “New Muse Piano Duo” (USA) for their US universities tour and recording of the CD “Transhuman”. During the season 2019-2020, Mr. Bezborodko served as a composer-in-residence at the National Odessa Philharmonic Orchestra.
