SERHIY OKHRIMCHUK is a Ukrainian violin virtuoso who performs music in the genre of folklore, jazz, rock, new improvisational music. Serhiy studies and performs ethnic violin music from different countries, experimenting with a combination of many musical genres. He has played in the experimental rock band "Biocord", and from 1990 to 1997, in the modern improvisational trio "SAT". He has independently mastered various folk regional styles of violin playing. In 1993 he worked at Department of Ethnomusicology, Kyiv Conservatory. He has also worked with collecting, researching and playing authentic violin music and participated in scientific folklore conferences in Ukraine, Poland, and Russia.
Since 2000 he has been teaching at the Department of Early National Music Peter Tchaikovsky Music Academy of Ukraine. He created several programs with leading jazz musicians of Ukraine and Poland, and took participation in many jazz festivals.
He is a member of the instrumental choir "Nadobriden", the folk ensemble Drevo, the Victor Solomin Quartet, «Обличчя міст» jazz band , Katya Chilly, and Chorea Kozatska. He is a member of Oleh Skrypka's ethno-disco project «Чоботи з бугая» and "Le Grand Orchestra". He is the leader of the quartet “Serhiy Okhrimchuk's Capella.”
He collaborates with many famous Ukrainian and foreign artists and groups including Oleh Skrypka, Okean Elzy, Mlada, Ruslana, Bozhychi, Red Cardell (France), Dmytro Naidich, Karpatyany, and others.
