Tessa Pettit
Tessa Pettit is a freelance hornist based out of New York, NY. She first began playing horn at age 11, and it quickly became a deep, unwavering passion for her.
Over the course of her music career she has played in a wide variety of ensembles. Most notably, Tessa has been a musician in the Army National Guard for the past 6 years, in which time she has performed regularly with the 44th Army Band as well as the 38th I.D. Band.
Tessa has also been a member of the Albuquerque Youth Symphony, Bosque Brass Quintet, Luminaria Wind Quintet, UNM Symphony Orchestra, UNM Wind Symphony, Landmark Musicals Pit Orchestra, IU Graduate Student Horn Quartet, IU University Orchestra, IU Symphony Orchestra, IU Philharmonic, the IU Brass Choir, and the Greenwich Village Orchestra.
Pettit has performed for audiences in the Sydney Opera House, the Mozarteum in Salzburg, Las Vegas, Salt Lake City, Colorado Springs, Flagstaff, Philadelphia, and numerous other cities. She has also taught students privately, from beginners to adults.
In 2016, Tessa received her Bachelor’s degree in Horn Performance with a minor in Psychology from the University of New Mexico. She continued studying Horn Performance at Indiana University’s Jacobs School of Music and earned her Master’s of Music in 2018.
Tessa made New York City her home in the summer of 2019 to further her freelancing and teaching career. She looks forward to performing in novel environments and discovering new musical endeavors, as well as continuing her career as a military musician with the 42nd Army Band! She hopes to engage more fully in the pedagogical spectrum of music as well.
