CONCERT EVENT AT CARNEGIE HALL

“Notes from Ukraine: 100 Years of Carol of the Bells” in Stern Auditorium at Carnegie Hall

UCMF is pleased to share a project we’ve been working on for more than two years. This concert, which will take place on Sunday December 4, 2022, marks the 100th anniversary of the first performance of “Shchedryk” by Mykola Leontovych—known throughout the US as “Carol of the Bells”.

We will celebrate Ukrainian musical heritage and the power of culture as a tool of communication and diplomacy through a beautiful variety of choral works sung by the Ukrainian Children’s Choir Shchedryk of Kyiv, New York City’s Choir of Trinity Wall Street, Ukrainian Chorus Dumka of New York (as seen on SNL), and Ukrainian Bandurist Chorus of North America and special guests Janai Brugger and Marichka Marczyk.

The concert will celebrate traditional Ukrainian Christmas songs, contemporary Ukrainian choral works, and music by American composers with ties to Ukraine. The concert will also present a world premiere by composer Trevor Weston, setting the words of Ukrainian poet Serhiy Zhadan.
